Protects the Heart from Adriamycin!

Adriamycin (also known as Doxorubicin) is a powerful chemotherapy medication. It is an anthracycline antibiotic. It is often used to treat very serious cases of cancer i.e. hematological cancers (blood, bone marrow and lymph nodes) as well as many types of carcinoma and soft-tissue sarcomas. One of the side-effects of adriamycin is its toxicity to the heart. Depression of heart function is very common.

Coenzyme Q10 is found in the mitochondria of every cell in your body. The mitochondria are known as the power houses of cells because they produce most of the cell's energy. The heart is loaded with mitochondria. Coenzyme Q10 is very crucial for this energy production within the mitochondria of the heart.

A pilot study done on patients receiving Adriamycin chemotherapy found that those individuals that took Coenzyme Q10 before the initiation of the chemotherapy did NOT have a significant decrease in the functioning of their hearts. The control patients that did NOT receive Coenzyme Q10 did suffer from a significant decline in their heart function. (Judy, WV et al. Coenzyme Q10 reduction of adriamycin cardiotoxicity. In Folkers K, Yamamura Y (eds). Biomedical and Clinical Aspects of Coenzyme Q, vol. 4, Elsevier Publ., 1984, pp. 231-241.)

Another study involving children with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) and Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma that were treated with anthracyclin drugs (i.e. Adriamycin) also showed benefit from using Coenzyme Q10 during their treatment. Here is a link to the PubMed article on that study (please be sure to read the last sentence of the abstract).

Based on this information and the non-toxicity of Coenzyme Q10, we recommend that all individuals undergoing adriamycin/doxorubicin chemotherapy strongly consider supplementing UBQH (reduced and stabilized Coenzyme Q10) before and during their chemotherapy.

Patented stabilized reduced UBIQUINOL (UBQH). Enhanced bioavailability - 62% higher than CoQ10.

There are many different brands of CoQ10 on the market today. But absorption of CoQ10 by the human body is very poor. That is why choosing the right CoQ10 is so very important in order to get all the protection that this important compound provides.

Ubiquinone (CoQ10, also known as oxidized Coenzyme Q10) and Ubiquinol (UBQH, reduced CoQ10) are 2 forms of the same compound naturally occurring in the human body. Ubiquinone (oxidized CoQ10) is converted to its active form, UBQH (reduced CoQ10), as a necessary and essential step in the production of cellular energy.

UBQH outside the body is an extremely unstable compound, converting to oxidized CoQ10 upon exposure to oxygen. New research has led to the development of a method to stabilize UBQH while protecting it from oxygen. UBQH contains this patent-pending, stabilized, active ubiquinol, which has been shown to have greater bioactivity than CoQ10.

UBQH is the the only patented, stable and proven-effective reduced CoQ10 solution available.
